Belling the Cat

Description

"That is all very well, but who is to bell the Cat?" The mice looked at one another and nobody spoke.
(~Aesop, Belling the Cat.)

I got a poke or two about turning mycat-doodle into a print. I didn't, because I thought it needed something more. Then I was doodling about in my brand new shiny version of CS3 and started playing around.

First the filigree went down, then I doodled a mouse in the upper corner for no reason. Then began the logic process:
"What's the mouse doing there? Taunting the cat. Why? To distract it. From what? Its mouse-buddies of course. What are they doing? Sneaking up on the cat. Why would they do that? Ooh, so they can put the bell on so the cat will stop surprising them!"

Belling the Cat has always been one of my favorite fables. So, random tribute. (If you aren't familiar with the fable, go read it. Yar)

Ha! Proposing impossible remedies is what I'm known for! (Although, I usually call it either brainstorming or being silly.) I had forgotten that moral, but if I ever need a tagline, I'm totally stealing it.

Did you do the calligraphy by hand? It looks awesome. (I like your bold stroke on the "d" - I never get that to look right.) I used to do some calligraphy, but my favourite pen was stolen (in religious studies class, of all places...), and I've just never found another I liked enough to replace it with. I was never terribly good at it, but it's impacted my regular handwriting... I add all sorts of little bits to letters that I didn't originally add. It's particularly noticeable in the letter S.
